I thought I'd quote from what I'm reading today:
Psalm 84:10-12 -- Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from thsoe whose walk is blameless. O Lord Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.
And just for fun, The Princess Bride, 30th anniversary edition, p. xiv:
"But did I go? Did not. Never went to Florin, never thought much about it. No, not true, I did think about it but I didn't visit for one reason: I was afraid the place would disappoint me."
This is William Goldman, writing as William Goldman, instead of as S. Morgenstern, the author of the history of Florin on which the Princess Bride is based. Too bad none of that made it into the movie.
"If you would not be forgotten, as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write things worth reading, or do things worth writing." -- Benjamin Franklin

A Day or Two After The Panic...

This cartoon appeared on the R-J's website. I don't know if it's a sign that the worst is over that we can now laugh at the Wall Street meltdown, but it is a funny cartoon. I hope the worst is over. I hope to hear good news come November 4. I hope. Maybe laughter is relaxing (see my earlier post today).
I also pray for the health and salvation (if she isn't saved already) of Obama's grandmother. These must be agonizing days of decision-making and difficult choices. I think this one shows that Obama has his priorities straight. Family comes first, even in the midst of the campaign crunch.

Happy Holiday
Does it seem to you like all the holidays are runnning together? A friend emailed the cartoon below, and it pretty much sums up the retail end of the "holiday season."
