Some day Blog

Hey! I finally have some time to myself to write.

1. It's been a busy week or two since I last wrote. We decided not to take our vacation to San Francisco, as planned, but still did get some time to ourselves. We also traveled to Rosamond, Calif., to help Mariellen's parents with some home repairs, then hosted Mariellen's sister's family for a few days as the kids headed out to upstate New York. The heat in Vegas has been incredible. On Friday, we had planned to go to Mt. Charleston, but it was already 92 IN THE MOUNTAINS at 9 a.m. on Friday, so we didn't see much point in that.

2. I officially joined the One campaign to support the goal of making 1% of GDP contributions to fighting poverty and disease. Their website is www.one.org. If you want to check them out, please do. I was surprised to see how many Christian aid organizations were a part of the campaign. (The list of organizations is on the "partners" tab if you go to the website.) I kind of expected there to be a divide between the secular relief agencies and the Christian ones, but I hope they're working together on this one. There is also a Jewish organization, but I didn't recognize any Muslim ones.

3. Interesting news out of London this morning. I hope it really is a bungled attempt at an Al Qaeda style bombing, like it appears right now. Maybe it will cut into Al Qaeda's "aura" and lead to some real victories in tracking down the suppliers, etc. Thank God it looks like only one person was hurt.
