Jesus, the Great Physician

I started rephrasing a story from the Bible to give to my brother for Christmas. After re-reading it, I have realized that it is really my story, and the story of many believers who have had their lives turned around by Christ. One of the many remarkable things about the story is how the man's doubt turns into belief. I was once told by a Sunday school teacher that there can be no faith without doubt. This is a wise saying, although it isn't technically in the Bible. This story, though, shows doubt being turned into faith. I hope you like it. Here is my version, adapted from Mark chapter 9:

A man brought his son to be healed of an evil spirit that had tried to throw him into the fire many times. The man was afraid that Jesus would not be able to heal him, and his disciples were unable at first to heal the boy. But Jesus said, “Everything is possible for him who believes.” The man answered,

“Lord, I believe. Help thou my unbelief.”
– Mark 9:24

After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, the spirit came out of the boy. The disciples thought the boy was dead. But Jesus healed the boy.
