Both of these candidates earned coverage on the inside of the Nevada section of the R-J, which I'll link to below. I was glad to see Richardson do something different -- rather than just speaking to the union, he spent a day with an SEIU member (who happens to make $90,000 a year) as part of the union's "Walk a Day in My Shoes" program. The R-J, inanely, focused on the shoes in the lead. In the process, Richardson brought some attention on the child welfare system in Nevada, which needs some attention.
Biden spoke to the union and promised to raise payroll taxes to save Social Security, which should make the Gleaner happy. I'm happy someone's talking realistically about what it would take to make Social Security solvent, but I doubt Biden will be able to muster the "political will" (i.e. a strong electoral victory) to make that change happen. Biden's probably running for National Senator, if that makes any sense -- he probably saw all these other Senators taking their shot, and thought, if not now, when?
