Obama Announces Strategy Shift over Breakfast with the NYT

I can see the scene now -- Obama is wolfing down some kind of crepe or Egg McMuffin substitute while spouting off about confronting Hillary aboard an airplane heading from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio. He probably is a little edgy, as he's trying to quit smoking, and it's the political fight of his life. He may be perceived as being a little angry, he thinks, and he's been promising a different kind of politics, so the Clinton campaign is of course waiting in the wings to gloat, spin, and go on the attack. Still, he feels compelled to take the fight to the Clintons, and he's got to rely on his base to rally around him now that we're less than two months away from the first votes being counted. There's still some uncertainty in the primary calendar, but Obama is focusing on Iowa and New Hampshire. He's got to start changing the campaign narrative, as the article I'm about to cite states. He has to continue to build enthusiasm among people from all walks of life. He has no choice -- and so, he commits himself to taking on the Clintons directly. We'll see what the debate is like on Tuesday. The interview lasted almost an hour, folks, so the NYT is picking out what it feels is the salient point. Still, it's a point that needs to be made. Here's the article.
