Borrowing a page from some other blogs I've read recently, I will be posting 7 thoughts for this weekend. The title of the post is a word I taped to a journal I started a few years ago, and the Bible verses are from that journal:
1. Psalm 119:11 "Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you."
2. Isaiah 28:16: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed."
3. Isaiah 30:15: "This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says, 'In repentance and rest is your salvation; in quietness and trust is your strength,..."
4. John 1:14: "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."
5. Psalm 16:7: "I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken."
6. 1 Thessalonians 2:8: "We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God, but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us."
7. There is more, but I am limiting myself to 7 thoughts tonight. A friend of mine is in the hospital, and we are praying for his quick recovery. These verses are helpful in reminding me of God's goodness and awesome truth -- God truly is a refuge in times of trouble (my word for the year is refuge -- see below), and he is the cornerstone of a solid life of faith. We are delighted to share in the good news and in the lives of our friends.
