Jennifer Lawrence tripped on her way to the
Oscar statue,
Seth McFarlane got mixed reviews as the host, and
Daniel Day Lewis was unexpectedly funny as the best actor winner. I still don't think Ben Affleck deserved the Oscar for best picture (I was rooting for Lincoln), but I'm getting over it.
In other news, Pres. Obama and Speaker John Boehner can't agree on a fix for the sequester, Chuck Hagel passed a vote leading toward his confirmation as Secretary of Defense, and Senate majority leader Harry Reid said House Republicans were to blame for the budget impasse.

In Nevada news, Gov.
Brian Sandoval signed an online gaming bill, Harry Reid spoke to the Nevada legislature, and UNR biologist Sudeep Chandra found giant goldfish in Lake Tahoe. Closer to home,
Las Vegas Sun reporter Ron Sylvester reported that the first of three Starbucks will open in
CityCenter in early March, Henderson city attorneys filed suit against developer Chris Milam over a stadium project land deal near the M casino, and police sought Tineesha Lashun Howard, aka Yenesis Alfonzo, as a "person of interest" in the Strip shooting last Tuesday.
