How have I been treated like a number this week? Let me count the ways...
1. Patient # ***** was forced to provide $20 cash in order to be granted entry to psychiatrist's inner sanctum. After going to ATM # *** to access account # ***, patient had to wait for over 30 minutes to be admitted to said sanctum. Was forced to reschedule anyway, demanded money back. Got home, found bill from medical billing agency for the same doctor for $20 (60 days overdue) from previous visit. Could not pay bill at doctor's office, had to send check # *** to billing company.
2. Employee # ***** received bi-monthly paycheck averaging about $600 per week (after taxes) for working 35.5 contract hours per week. Actual number of hours worked: closer to 80.
3. Hotmail account # ***** received bogus email about paypal account # ***** implying that someone had been trying to add an email address to my account. Clicking on the link, I was asked to "verify" my paypal account by entering credit card # *****. Web address was not a paypal address. Thankfully, credit score # ***** remains relatively intact.
4. Employee # ***** was forced to work 3 extra hours this week to meet with parents at open house. Number of parents met in first 30 minutes of scheduled meeting time: 0. At the end of the evening (9 p.m. -- note, employee's work day typically begins at 6:30 a.m.), number of parents in room with complaints: 2. Number of students affected by said complaints: 1. Number of minutes spent defending the fact that this student should be working on a simple question when the tardy bell rings: over 20. Number of dollars earned by employee # *** for spending time in this fashion: 0.
Number of personal insults received from student during this discussion: 2. (#1: "I don't like you personally." #2: "Teachers like you keep us late, so that's why I can't be at your class on time." Note -- actual class student has before mine: PE. # of minutes at the end of PE spent in the locker room: at least 5).
Somebody treat me like a human being! Please!

On the plus side, the student did say that (s)he took a personal dislike to you. Then again, maybe that student hates all teachers. There, there employee #48151 (pat on shoulder).
