The following links will take you to poets.org, where I stumbled across two lively poems. One I was familiar with from my tenth-graders' anthology -- it was impossible to explain why this poem was NOT about child abuse. Listen to the cadence, though, and you can feel the waltz in it. The second poem is about poetry, as many good poems are, but this one is astute and whimsical, and I love the audio version for its alteration of the text. It's better spoken aloud -- a story, a discovery, fun and profound.
Here they are:
"My Papa's Waltz"
"What He Thought"
Which do you prefer? Any thoughts?
