Guggenheim-Hermitage Closes Doors
The Venetian hotel's Guggenheim-Hermitage gallery closed its doors today. The R-J muses that it could be the beginning of the end of high culture on the Strip. I don't think so, but it is troubling. I think they charged too much for a small gallery space. I only went there once, but the works of art we found there were beautiful -- actually, it was the first show they had there, which combined some of the best art work from the two museums' collections to make a beautiful post-impressionist show. All the big names were there, and M. discovered she liked Kandinsky enough to buy a calendar of his works. It was a good memory and a neat learning experience. It's a shame to see the museum fold.
