Inception

This tense movie drew me in with convincing acting and believable special effects, combined with live-action filming.  I liked the cast of characters around Cobb, the central figure -- my favorite was probably Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Arthur, the competent behind-the-scenes guy who almost always seems to have the answers and does some pretty impressive zero-gravity stunts.  Ariadne, which is a great name by the way, serves as an interesting foil to Cobb -- she is the "architect" of the dream worlds into which they all plunge in order to plant a seed in a CEO's mind, but also the one person who delves into Cobb's dreams and encourages him to let go of his tragic past.  The team of people who launch this endeavor go to extreme lengths to accomplish something that could just as easily be done through psychotherapy or general persuasion, but hey, it's a movie, and it's a fun ride.  The editing of the movie is a little disconcerting at first -- jump cuts to save time -- but the cuts tie in pretty well with the overall story eventually.  Overall, I give it an A-.  The only real flaw in the movie is the way one dream world drags as time expands in the other dream worlds -- it will make more sense if you see the movie, which I recommend.
